Applying
Do I need to be chartered?
No. Membership is open to anyone working or studying in railway civil engineering, at any stage of their career.
How long does approval take?
The membership secretary reviews applications weekly. Most are approved within 10 working days.
Do I need a proposer?
A proposer who is already a member helps, but is not required. Without one, we may ask for a short call or a line from your employer.
What happens after I’m approved?
Your account is created automatically and we email you a secure link to set your password. You can book events straight away.
Fees & payment
How do I pay?
By card or Direct Debit once your application is approved. Student / Apprentice membership is free.
Can my employer pay?
Yes. Request an invoice in your employer’s name from your account’s Membership & payments page.
When does membership renew?
Every year on 31 March. We remind you by email 30 days and 7 days before.
Events
Are events open to non-members?
Most evening meetings are free and open to all. Site visits, study tours and the Parliamentary Reception are for members.
Do events count as CPD?
Every event lists its CPD hours, and attendance is recorded on your member dashboard.
What if a visit is full?
Join the waiting list. We offer released places in the order people joined.

I’ve forgotten my password
Use “Forgotten your password?” on the login page and we’ll email a reset link.
How do I update my details?
Sign in and go to Account / Profile. Changes to your grade are checked by the membership secretary.
How do I leave?
Email the membership secretary or cancel renewal from your account. Your archive contributions stay credited to you.
